  1. Day 1
    Arrival in Kigali – Welcome to Rwanda

    Arrival in Kigali at the KIA, VIP meet and greet and assistance at the immigration. Meet our representative at the exit of the airport and transfer to the hotel in Kigali for an overnight.

  2. Day 2
    Nyungwe National Park - Ethnographic and Royal King’s Palace Museums Enroute

    Breakfast followed by a briefing for the day from your guide then set off for Nyungwe National Park. Enroute you will explore the cultural and historical aspect of Butare and Nyanza

    Visit the King’s royal palace in Nyanza and a traditional hut house, former residence to the last King of Rwanda, expect to learn more about Rwandan kingdoms different royal practices that are still used to this day.

    Furthermore, the heritage corridor offers one of the best ethnographic museums located in Butare, showcasing the social, political, economic life of early Rwandans.
    Lunch at E-BIS then proceed to Nyungwe Forest and to the lodge for the night.

  3. Day 3
    Chimpanzee tracking & Walk on Top of the Forest – Lake Kivu

    Early breakfast there then comes a drive to the far edge of the national park, where chimpanzee trekking in Nyungwe commences. You will be led straightly by knowledgeable trekking guides and trackers who will provide you with fascinating information about the closest living apes to humans in terms of DNA. Once you spot chimpanzees, you will spend up to a couple of hours following and watching them.

    Lunch at Nyungwe Top Hill View followed by another activity in the park. Briefing after embark on a walk to the famous canopy walk way. A 70 m high and 160m long artificial bridge which allows you to see beautiful views of this old forest from the top. You will also get chance to see some birds at the tree crowns.

    After today’s activities in the park, continue your journey to the belt of lake Kivu, arrive in time for the sunset and restlessly enjoy the rest of the evening with beautiful views from your lodge as you hear the sound of the waves of Lake Kivu.

  4. Day 4
    Lake Kivu Kayaking - Kigali

    Early in the dawn, the boat ride is prominently one of the activities to have in Lake Kivu. Morning kayaking on Lake Kivu, you will be with an experienced guide, paddling to Lake Kivu’s islands such as Napoleon, Monkey and Peace Islands.

    Napoleon island is one of the tallest islands in this area, over 100 meters separate the peak from the water’s edge, providing tourists with a breathtaking view of the lake, islands, and shoreline in the area.

    The island is home to a large colony of bats which a short climb brings you face-to-face with. There are also giant African millipedes, eagles, and a wide variety of water birds. Occasionally you may even spot an Inzocor: a water snake. The islands of Kibuye are rich in wildlife.

    Lunch and check out at the hotel, hit the road back to Kigali or your departure flight.

RULES & REGULATIONS IN THE PARKS
• Never walk alone in the park, always take a guide and listen to him/her
• Keep your voice low so that you don’t frighten the wildlife
• When you are with Gorillas/Chimpanzees keep your distance (7m minimum/23ft), no smoking, eating or drinking, no cell phones, if you must sneeze or cough always cover your face and turn away from gorillas. Visits are limited to 1 Hour per gorilla group per day.
• If you’re to take pictures don’t put the flash ON.
• Don’t drop litter, take it home or in your car (or carry them till you reach the reception where there is bins)
• It is prohibited to pick or remove any plans or other wildlife in the park

 

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU TRAVEL TO RWANDA

  • VISA: In Rwanda visas can be obtained on arrival. All African nationals are either visa exempt or get their visa on arrival Rwanda, a member of East African community allows citizens of all countries that are not visa exempt to obtain visa on arrival. In additional they may also obtain an e-visa online before departure. All visitor must hold a valid passport for at least 6 months with at least one empty page.

Rwanda is the safest country in Africa!

  • Credit cards: the official currency in Rwanda is Rwandan Franc (RWF), the US dollar is widely accepted.
  • Dollar bills issued before 2006 are not accepted in most shops, banks and more

places.

  • When packing: do not forget a light rain coat, good hiking/walking shoes or boots, when tracking you will be in rain forests and it is more likely to rain anytime. Bring also an insect repellent, light clothes if you’re going on a safari, long sleeve clothes, hat/cap if you’re doing safaris plus sunglasses, swimming costumes if you like swimming, main hotels in Kigali or Parks have swimming pools. Swimming at Lake Kivu (Karongi or Rubavu) follow the advice of the guide.
  • Drinking water: it is not advisable to drink water from the taps, you will be able to get bottled water whenever you go.
  • We recommend you to carry large dollar bills and of recent series – 2009 and above.
  • An East Africa tourist visa is recommended for those visiting Rwanda Uganda and Kenya – US$100 PP

 

  • Vaccination: A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is only required for travelers 1 year of age and older coming from a country with risk of Yellow Fever transmission. Malaria vaccine is not compulsory but advisable.
  • Health: In Rwanda you can find hospitals whenever you are, pharmacies on the same lines with shops in cities/towns plus small villages. Rwanda is strictly a polythene free country. For environmental reasons, plastic bags are not allowed!
